The Cooks' House res
taurant was opened to celebrate the bounty of agriculture and artisan made products that are found in Northern Michigan. It is our mission to use, promote and celebrate local sustainable foods. We invite you to join us and taste the difference that comes from practicing a field to plate philosophy. Come with us and experience how much better food can taste when made from products that come from the farmers, growers, and artisans who call Northern Michigan home.

Had an absolutely FABULOUS dinner last night..actually 3! Everyone passed samples around and the duck, rabbit, and walleye where all great entrees. What a rush of flavors! The cheeses are another treat and I'll never be the same after my 1st Panna Cotta. Thank you for your talent and the effort of putting together an incredible assortment of local foods for all of us to enjoy.

What an amazing meal -- we both had! The flavors within each dish all complimented each other very nicely and the menu is imaginative. Hats off to you both for your devotion to local sustainability!

Hi Eric and Jennifer,
A friend and I had a lovely, tasty lunch at your restaurant yesterday. All around a wonderful experience. Except for one thing: the overwhelming cloud of fry/smoke. I left there smelling as if I had just spent the day working in a Chinese restaurant, smile.
I know you try to air the place out by opening the doors and windows, but your exhaust fan should be doing that job. I do hope you can fix it somehow. Not only is it unpleasant, it's so unhealthy for you all to be breathing day in and day out.
I will return again!
With warm regards,
Nancy Allen

Great dinner. Wes and I enjoyed every bite. Took us back to the EU, catching a meal before a concert. Bravo and best wishes for a long run!

I made a reservation for a Saturday night not knowing what I was getting myself (or my in-laws)into. It was out of a magazine! We had the lawn to ourself, seated at a quaint wooden table set for four. The food was outstanding. It seemed almost necessary that everyone order something different just so all could be sampled. There wasn't a bit I didn't like. My husband and I have a new favorite dining spot. We look forward to returning very soon.

I had the most amazing lunch experience at your restaurant before Labor Day. The Cooks House had been referred to me by a server at another nice restaurant (Walt). The potato/zucchini waffle with chicken was incredible and perfectly comforting. The service was terrific and a natural effort to help me enjoy my last relaxing, quiet meal before heading back to my four kids in Grand Rapids. It was like in a movie... the tables outside, the herbs in the garden, walking through the kitchen to the bathroom (I've done that in many amazing restaurants in New England area).
Thank you for putting so much effort to create a serene little moment that is both tasty and a great community concept.

Hello from Los Angeles!
Thanks again for a great night on 9/25! We were inspired by our time with you to write on our own blog www.brandculturetalk.com about what you're accomplishing way up in Michigan. It's a lot like Chef Eric's 5/20 blog post on simplicity, but we wanted to cheer you on.
Go, go, go!

I have had four meals in your restaurant. I have eaten all around the world at many of the best and many undiscovered gems and how great to find one of the best right here in Traverse City. The whole concept of your restaurant is a wonderful statement to fine food and personal and creative preparation. You do an outstanding job. I love your blog too.

You have created an incredible dining experience for your patrons and for Mother Earth !!!! Supporting local farms & businesses is the way to go and one taste of your many wonderful creations is proof in itself!!!! We were blessed to find you this past summer on a trip to your lovely city and hope to be back again soon! The entire experience ( the meal, your staff and meeting you) cannot be expressed in words to do it all justice!!!
Now, I must ask..........
1. Do you have a cookbook available, and, if so, how do I get a copy ???
2. Can you provide me the name of your rootbeer supplier ??? Wooowwwww!!!!!!
3. Would you share w/ me the recipe for the cherries that were served to us w/ our cheese plate last summer ? They were incredible!!! I came home w/ a 30 lb. container of cherries now residing in my deep freezer and I'd like to try my hand at those cherries marinated in some type of red wine .... were they dried cherries ???? mmmmmm!!!!
Thanks so much for all you do!!!!

My most sincere hope: You're booked every day and night for the rest of the summer, and beyond.
My greatest concern: Not being able to get a reservation because you're booked every day and night for the rest of the summer, and beyond.

I am completly consumed by the comments you restaurant is being left by guest. What you are doing is amazing. Im from southeast michigan and i live in vegas doing exactly what the two of you have done...enjoy life and love food. It is hard to find QUALITY heart felt sustainable product here in vegas. I respect what you are doing for yourself and for michigan. Michigan has so much to offer and what traverse city is becoming is wonderful in everyway. I am traveling back home at the end of September to visit because im graduating from Le Cordon Bleu:). I have read about your restaurant and your dishes sound amazing. I cannot wait to come there and experience it for myself! Best of wishes for your future!
